Oze is a hand-held portable conceptual device that can help rapidly scan and diagnose people for diseases by checking their body for fever, as well as testing their blood for the pathogen. It allows you to diagnose not one, but several viruses.

How does the design anticipate the user experience and ultimately benefit society?
Given this pandemic situation also led to the democratization of innovation. The most crucial checkpoint becomes the thermal screening and swab testing of masses. Accessibility and availability of testing kits within local reach may not be possible being at home. And thermal screening alone cannot detect cases. This is where OZE is going to speed up the whole screening process by bringing it into the hands of the masses with ease of usability. On its primary interface, it displays the temperature captured by the infrared thermal-scope, along with advice that tells the anticipating user whether they need to consult doctor.

How is OZE's design original and innovative?
The OZE isn’t just another hand-held thermometer, it’s a state-of-the-art testing device that allows user to diagnose for not one, but several viruses. It’s CO-COVID life for everyone, given this situation one cannot afford to visit medical services frequently for tests. There is a need to democratize the testing system at a very local level down to our home so that we take well-informed decisions and precautionary steps. This device also helps to cut short false alarms and overburdening medical services so that they can focus on critical cases still being a hand-held device.

How does the design captivate people?
The device is entirely wireless and is no larger than a contactless thermometer. Designed to be used at any place where you’d see a potential influx of large amounts of people, from airports to grocery shops, the OZE just gives you an extra layer of security, allowing you to not just check the temperature, which surely is an indication of a viral illness, but to even double down on any doubtful cases by giving them a quick blood test. Besides, it tells you the weather and air-quality outside too, isn’t that just convenient?
The aesthetics are inspired by iconic Pininfarina design language setting lead “What if Pininfarina had medical domain?” The organic form structure following optimum grab and point ergonomics provides a comfortable operating experience for a longer duration. The outer body is a two-part injection molded piece in medical-grade plastic.
